Meet Maikong, Powder Brow Specialist in Roseville, Minnesota

One Specialty. One Focus. Powder Brows.

Welcome to POWDR Permanent Cosmetics.

I'm Maikong, the artist behind POWDR and a powder brow specialist in Roseville, Minnesota.

I created POWDR around a simple belief: when it comes to something as personal and permanent as your brows, focused expertise matters.

That's why I don't try to offer every permanent makeup service. I specialize exclusively in powder brows.

My goal is to create brows that enhance your natural features rather than overpower them—soft, balanced, refined brows that look beautiful when you leave my studio and continue to look like you as they heal.

My Approach to Powder Brows

Powder brows are more than a technique. They're a permanent decision, and I believe the process should feel thoughtful from the very beginning.

Before any tattooing takes place, we take time to talk about your brows, your concerns, your lifestyle, and what you hope to achieve.

I want you to understand what powder brows are, what they can realistically accomplish, how they heal, and what maintenance looks like before you make your decision.

My approach is never to give every client the same brow.

Your natural brow hair, facial features, skin, coloring, lifestyle, and personal preferences all play a role in creating your final design.

My Training & Experience

My foundation in permanent makeup began with professional training in cosmetic tattooing, followed by continued hands-on experience developing my technique and understanding how pigment and skin interact.

Since beginning my work in permanent cosmetics, I have continued refining my approach with a particular focus on powder brows, brow design, color selection, healed results, and creating natural-looking outcomes across different skin types.

I believe training is not something that ends when you receive a certificate. Permanent makeup is an evolving field, and continuing to learn is part of being a responsible artist.

Why I Chose Powder Brows

I chose to focus on powder brows because I love the balance between definition and softness.

Powder brows can create the appearance of a naturally filled-in brow without requiring the client to draw and fill their brows every morning. For clients with sparse, thin, light, or overplucked brows, they can provide structure and definition while still allowing the overall result to feel soft and natural.

What I love most is that powder brows can be customized.

They don't have to look bold or overly made up. They can be designed to complement your features and create the appearance of a softly tinted, polished brow.

That natural-looking result is what I continue to strive for with every client.

Why Powder Brows Only?

You may notice that POWDR doesn't offer lip blushing, microblading, eyeliner, or a long list of other permanent makeup services.

That's intentional.

I believe there is value in specialization.

Rather than dividing my attention across multiple permanent makeup techniques, I have chosen to focus my education, practice, and experience on powder brows.

This allows me to continually refine one specialty—from mapping and shape design to pigment selection, machine technique, and healed results.

When you choose POWDR, you're choosing an artist whose primary focus is your brows.

Natural Results Are the Goal

My philosophy is simple:

Your permanent makeup should enhance your features—not become the first thing people notice about you.

I want your brows to have shape, definition, and balance while still feeling like they belong on your face.

I'm not trying to create the same brow on every client.

I'm looking at what you already have and asking how we can thoughtfully enhance it.

Permanent makeup should also age gracefully. Because powder brows are a long-term commitment, I believe in taking a conservative and intentional approach rather than creating a result that is unnecessarily heavy or saturated.

My Brow Mapping Approach

Before I begin tattooing, I take time to map your brows carefully.

I use a golden-ratio caliper as one of my tools to evaluate proportions and establish a starting point for the brow shape.

But measurements are only part of the process.

Your natural hair growth, existing brow shape, facial features, symmetry, and personal preferences all matter.

I map your brows while considering both how they look while you're lying down and how they look when you're sitting upright. This gives us the opportunity to evaluate the shape from different perspectives and make adjustments before any permanent work begins.

Most importantly, you are part of the mapping process.

I want you to feel comfortable with the shape before we move forward.

Powder Brows & Different Skin Types

Every person's skin is different, and permanent makeup does not heal exactly the same way for everyone.

Skin type, oil production, lifestyle, skincare products, sun exposure, and individual healing response can all influence how pigment settles and how long your results last.

Powder brows can be a versatile technique for many different skin types, including oily skin, but I believe it is important to approach every client individually rather than promising an identical result for everyone.

Your consultation gives us an opportunity to evaluate your brows and skin, discuss your expectations, and determine whether powder brows are an appropriate choice for you.

Continuing Education

I believe a responsible permanent makeup artist should always be learning.

I continue to build my knowledge and refine my technique through ongoing education focused on permanent makeup, powder brow technique, brow design, pigment, skin, and healed results.

My goal isn't simply to collect certificates. It's to take what I learn and thoughtfully apply it to create safer, more consistent, and more natural-looking results for my clients.

Safety Comes First

Permanent makeup is a form of tattooing, and I take that responsibility seriously.

Your appointment involves more than creating beautiful brows. It also requires careful attention to sanitation, infection control, proper preparation, safe tattooing practices, and appropriate aftercare.

I maintain a clean, professional environment and use appropriate disposable and single-use supplies throughout the procedure.

Before your appointment, we also review relevant health and skin considerations to help determine whether you are an appropriate candidate for the procedure.

Your safety and informed decision-making are just as important to me as the finished result.

Proudly Serving Minnesota

POWDR is located in Roseville, Minnesota, in the heart of the Twin Cities.

I created this studio to provide a focused, personal alternative to larger beauty businesses where permanent makeup may be one of many services.

If you're in Roseville, St. Paul, Minneapolis, or elsewhere in the Twin Cities and you're looking for a powder brow specialist, I would love to help you explore whether powder brows are right for you.

Minnesota is home, and I'm proud to build my business here and serve women in the community who want to simplify their beauty routine while still looking like themselves.

A Personal Approach to Permanent Brows

I know that choosing permanent makeup can feel like a big decision.

You're not just choosing a brow shape. You're choosing someone to tattoo your face.

That's why I don't believe in rushing the process.

I want you to feel informed, heard, and confident before we begin.

If you're looking for an artist who specializes exclusively in powder brows and values natural-looking results, thoughtful mapping, individualized design, and a carefully curated experience, welcome to POWDR.

Powder brows are my specialty.
